Description

Situated on a hillside plot in Hatt-ı Bâlâ, one of Beykoz’s historically rich and topographically distinct areas, Beykoz Residences reinterprets the spatial memory of Istanbul’s Bosphorus neighborhoods through a contemporary, context-sensitive lens.

The project reflects a deep respect for the natural terrain, existing water paths, and panoramic orientation of the site. Its layout draws from the vernacular rhythm of Bosphorus settlements — a careful balance of built and unbuilt space, modest density, and the dialogue between pitched and flat-roofed forms.

Inspired by Sedad Hakkı Eldem’s vision of localized modernism, the project brings together shaded loggias, deep eaves, articulated facades, and layered elevations. With locally sourced stone, timber, and natural plasters, Beykoz Residences establishes an architectural atmosphere that is understated, tactile, and deeply rooted in place.
